Collegiate University Leaders Induction Programme (CULIP)

CULIP is an orientation programme designed to support senior leaders as they transition into new roles across the collegiate University. It provides structured opportunities for reflection, connection, and practical insights into how participants' roles fit within the wider University context.

In addition to the workshop and networking sessions, we would like to offer you a mentor in the form of an experienced senior University leader in a similar role to your own.

The programme runs annually and is open to new, or recently appointed, Heads of House; Heads of Department and Faculty Board Chairs; Deputy Heads or Chairs; Heads and Associate Heads of Division; Heads of autonomous Research Centres; Statutory Chairs with responsibilities equivalent to those of a Head of Department; and Heads of Service in GLAM and UAS.

CULIP provides those new to senior leadership roles at the University with the opportunity to:

  1. Gain clarity on their role within the University’s strategic landscape, including priorities and their part in delivering them;
  2. Connect with a network of peers from across the collegiate University for mutual learning, support, and knowledge sharing; and
  3. Develop greater awareness of the resources available to them within the University and how to access these.

The current programme format is a full-day workshop followed by networking sessions.

This confidential relationship can provide further support with understanding leadership at Oxford and how to effectively access resources to ‘get things done’.

Last year’s CULIP participants highlighted mentoring as being one of the most helpful aspects of the programme.

Participants can join at any time throughout the year although the welcome session with the Vice Chancellor will takes place in Michaelmas Term each year.

This programme is run on an invitation only basis. Eligible University participants are nominated through their Division. Please speak to your Divisional Registrar if you believe you are eligible and have not received an invitation by the start of the new academic year. Incoming Heads of House are identified in consultation with the Conference of Colleges.

Please speak to your Divisional Registrar in the first instance if applicable or contact pod@admin.ox.ac.uk
